Hours of Operation

Your Child Care Center is open 6:30 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday. We are closed on the following holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. Additional closures will be communicated to families with a minimum of two weeks' notice.

Late Pick-Up Policy: Children must be picked up by the center's closing time. A late fee of $1.00 per minute will be charged for each minute past closing time. Repeated late pick-ups may result in disenrollment.

Behavior Guidance and Discipline Policy

California Code of Regulations Title 22 §101223

Your Child Care Center believes in positive guidance that supports children's social and emotional development. Our approach emphasizes helping children develop self-control, respect for others, and problem-solving skills.

Approaches We Use: - Positive reinforcement of desired behaviors - Clear, consistent, and age-appropriate expectations - Redirection and offering alternatives - Brief, calm conversations about behavior and its impact - Natural and logical consequences

Prohibited Practices: The following are strictly prohibited at Your Child Care Center: - Corporal punishment of any kind (hitting, spanking, shaking, or rough handling) - Withholding food, water, or rest as punishment - Verbal humiliation, threats, or frightening language - Isolation in a locked or unsupervised area - Discipline for toileting accidents

If a child's behavior poses an ongoing safety concern, we will schedule a conference with the family to develop a collaborative plan. Disenrollment is a last resort and only after documented interventions have been attempted.

Illness and Exclusion Policy

California Code of Regulations Title 22 §101228

To protect all children and staff at Your Child Care Center, children must be excluded from care when they exhibit the following symptoms:

- Fever of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher - Vomiting (two or more times in the previous 24 hours) - Diarrhea (three or more loose stools in the previous 24 hours) - Undiagnosed rash or skin condition - Red or draining eyes (conjunctivitis) - Severe or persistent cough - Difficulty breathing - Yellow or green nasal discharge with other symptoms

Readmission: Children may return to care when they have been fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication, have had no vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours, or have a written clearance from a healthcare provider for diagnosed conditions.

Notification: Parents will be contacted immediately when a child develops symptoms at the center and must arrange pick-up within one hour. Please ensure your emergency contacts are current.

Communicable Disease Reporting: Your Child Care Center will notify families of any reportable communicable disease exposure in accordance with CA Department of Health guidelines.

Medication Administration Policy

California Code of Regulations Title 22 §101226

Your Child Care Center will administer medication to children only under the following conditions:

1. Written authorization from a parent or legal guardian is on file 2. Medication is in its original, labeled container 3. The label shows the child's name, dosage, and administration instructions

Prescription Medications: Require a current prescription label. We may require written authorization from the child's healthcare provider for long-term medications.

Non-Prescription (Over-the-Counter) Medications: Require a parent authorization form specifying the medication name, dose, and frequency. We will not administer medications on a standing basis without a healthcare provider's written instructions.

Storage: All medications are stored in a locked cabinet inaccessible to children. Medications requiring refrigeration are stored in a designated, labeled space in the refrigerator.

Records: All medication administration is documented including the date, time, dose given, and the staff member who administered it.

Emergency Procedures

California Code of Regulations Title 22 §101190

Your Child Care Center prepares for emergencies with written plans, practiced drills, and posted instructions in every classroom.

Fire Evacuation: Fire evacuation routes are posted in each classroom. Fire drills are conducted monthly. The evacuation assembly area is located at a safe distance from the building. Staff will take attendance rosters and emergency contact lists during any evacuation.

Severe Weather/Tornado: During a tornado warning, children are moved to interior hallways or designated shelter areas away from windows. Families will be notified as soon as safely possible.

Lockdown: In the event of a community emergency requiring lockdown, doors will be secured, windows covered, and children moved away from door and window areas. Law enforcement instructions will be followed.

Medical Emergency: In the event of a medical emergency, staff will: (1) call 911 immediately if the situation is life-threatening, (2) administer first aid by trained staff, (3) contact the child's parent/guardian, and (4) document the incident.

Emergency Contacts: All families must maintain current emergency contact information. Parents will be notified of any evacuation or shelter-in-place event. Contact Your Child Care Center at (555) 000-0000 in emergencies.
